Bible: Psalm 66:1-8

Shout for joy to God, all the earth! (V.1).

The holidays are great! Whether they mean the end of exams, a trip abroad or simply a break from school, we all love a reason to party!

As I stood on a lake shore one summer holiday and saw hundreds and hundreds of people boating, swimming, picnicking or simply walking together, I enjoyed soaking up the party atmosphere.

Have you ever tried to celebrate something alone? A fireworks display isn’t much fun if there’s no one to “ooooh” and “aaaah” with. Picnics need people. Birthday parties would feel pretty strange if no one turned up!

As Christians, we have lots to celebrate—and not alone or just a few times a year! We’re to meet often with other Christians to encourage one another in love and good works (HEB. 10:24-25), and to celebrate God’s love. One psalm writer said we should “come and see what God has done” and praise Him together (PS. 66:5-8). Let’s celebrate God’s love and goodness with our church family. Because of Jesus’ death and resurrection, we have loads of reasons to party! And to share our happiness with everyone we meet.
