Noticed
Bible: 1 Samuel 30:11-18
Many who are first will be last, and many who are last will be first (MATTHEW 19:30).
The Bible has lots of great stories and moments that involve unnamed people. In 1 Samuel 30 we read that David’s soldiers found a young man who had been left behind by an enemy army. The Egyptian slave is not named, but he shared key information that helped David to rescue his family. I also think of the young boy whose packed lunch was used by Jesus to feed thousands (JOHN 6:9), the owners of the colt which Jesus rode into Jerusalem (LUKE 19:33) and the owner of the house in which Jesus and His friends ate their last Passover meal (22:11). Then there was the boy who saved Paul’s life (ACTS 23:16-22).
In our world today, there are many people who don’t get noticed for what they do. They’ll never find their names ‘breaking’ the internet because of the good things they’ve done. Many talk with God every day, give to people in need and show the love of Jesus to everyone they meet. Maybe you feel like nobody notices the things you do to please God and help His people? You, and many others, may not be noticed here and now—but in heaven everything will be made known so that God will be praised all the more! And “many who are first will be last, and many who are last will be first” (MATT. 19:30).
IT IS BETTER TO FOLLOW GOD THAN BE FAMOUS.
