Rejoicing In the Morning

Rejoicing In the Morning

Weeping may stay for the night, but rejoicing comes in the morning (V.5).

Psalm 30:1-5
Reading

It wasn’t long after she’d passed her driving test. Kate couldn’t see through the fogged-up windows in her car. Edging forward onto a busy road, she accidentally pulled out in front of a lorry. The accident caused such damage to her brain that she could no longer speak or take care of herself.

Over the years, I have been amazed at how Kate’s parents have kept going. Recently I asked them, “How have you managed to get through all this?” Her dad said, “In all honesty, the only way we’ve been able to do this is by drawing close to God. He gives us the strength we need to help us through.”

Kate’s mum agreed and also said that at the time of the accident their sadness and pain was so deep that they wondered if they would ever feel happy again. As they both leaned upon God, they found that He gave them everything they needed and He cared for their entire family. Although Kate may never be able to speak again, she now recognises them and gives them wide smiles—which they say gives them great reason to thank God! Her parents’ favourite verse continues to be: “Weeping may stay for the night, but rejoicing comes in the morning” (PS. 30:5).

Have you or your family gone through life-changing pain or issues? Are you struggling to move forward? There is the promise of future happiness when you lean on our loving God today.
