Heroes

Heroes

God demonstrates his own love for us in this: while we were still sinners, Christ died for us (V.8)

Romans 5:1-11
Reading

I love superhero films! I love kicking back and watching Iron Man, Thor or Superman zooming across the screen in a blaze of light or a blast of energy and saving the day—and sometimes the planet. I find it inspiring to watch these people using their special abilities to beat the bad guys and save the helpless.

So many people love these stories because we all want a hero. Someone to zoom in and rescue us from our problems—our pain, break ups, exam results, illness and all sorts of other things. We want someone to bring meaning to our lives, to rescue us from being lost.

Jesus is that hero and much more; He’s God! He created the whole universe, yet chose to leave heaven to come to earth (PHIL. 2:5-8). He healed the blind, deaf and sick. He calmed storms and brought the dead back to life. He willingly died on the cross to rescue us from our sins and then rose again so that all who trust in Him can live forever (JOHN 3:16). And this was while we were still sinners (ROM. 5:6-8). He loves us that much!

When we turn our lives over to Jesus, He not only rescues us but also continues to be active in our lives, giving us the comfort, strength and wisdom, we need to face anything.

What I’m thankful for . . .

Jesus, thank You for loving us so much that You rescued us from our sins. Thank You for always being with us

NO SUPERHEROES CAN COMPARE TO OUR REAL-LIFE HERO.
