The Story of Asha Kandara
As a 17-year-old girl, I am stunned by the determination of Asha Kandara. Who is that you ask? Read on to know her better.
Asha Kandara is a single mother of 2. She epitomizes what it means to never give up. She wanted to become an IAS officer but age restrictions closed that door for her. Yet she never gave up and worked hard to clear the RAS (Rajasthan Administrative Service), within 12 days of writing her exam she accepted a job as a sweeper on the roads of Jodhpur to provide for her two kids. As a sweeper she faced much hardship and biases based on her caste and her marital status- she was insulted multiple times. However, she has now been appointed as the Deputy collector of Rajasthan. She says “I want to work for bringing justice to society as an administrative officer. My endeavor is not just for my community, but for every victim of injustice.”

Her story is a huge motivation for me as a 12th standard student. She motivates me to achieve my dreams and to help others around me. After attending 3 months of online classes, I felt lazy and demotivated, however Asha Kandara’s life story has inspired me. It reminds me of a Bible verse which says, “The horse is made ready for the day of battle, but the victory belongs to the LORD.” This means that when we work hard, God will help us achieve the plans He has for us. Before I start studying, I always remind myself that my performance is not based on my abilities but on God’s help and the wisdom He offers. My talents, skills and even my hard work means nothing when it come to achieving my goals, except if He grants me the victory.
I strongly believe Asha Kandara’s life can be an inspiration to others, just as it was to me. It reminds me that I should never depend on myself and my talents but on God. It reminds me to pray, work hard and never give up. Walking with God and sharing our lives with Him can help us through everything. Nothing is impossible with God, and when God is our partner, nothing is impossible with us too. I am confident that Asha Kandara will be a dynamic leader in India. God has a different purpose for every one of us, and our work is to fulfill it to the best of our ability. So, may we work hard and put our trust in Him. May this nation be filled with leaders like Asha Kandara who aspire for more, and strive to make a difference in the lives of others and I hope I am able to make a difference too.
